Committed to Circularity

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in our day-to-day practices in order achieve our long-term vision of a regenerative, circular economy that not only meets the needs of today but protects resources for future generations.

Reducing Carbon Footprint

ProNuvo’s black soldier fly larvae production is highly efficient, using significantly less land, water, and energy compared to traditional protein sources like soy or fishmeal.

By upcycling pre-consumer fruit waste that would otherwise end up in landfills, we help reduce methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas. This process not only minimizes waste but also contributes to global efforts to combat climate change.

Each ton of untreated organic waste can produce between .25-1 ton of methane.

Protecting Land and Sea Ecosystems

By producing black soldier fly larvae as an alternative to fishmeal, ProNuvo helps protect marine life from overfishing and preserves ocean ecosystems. At the same time, reducing the demand for land-intensive crops like soy supports the protection of forests and biodiversity.

Supporting Local Communities

ProNuvo is located in the Limón province, 70 kilometers from Costa Rica’s capital and economic hub, San José. While Limón is a key agricultural region extending through the Atlantic coast, it hasn’t seen the same economic growth as the country’s Central Valley.

ProNuvo aims to change that by offering new jobs in sustainable agriculture and biotechnology, contributing to the region’s economic development.
